Agendas That Make You Want to Work (& Tips for Staying Motivated!)

It's that time of year again - we're halfway through summer which means halfway to back to school season. Though I will still be mid-internship when back to school starts, I will still be enjoying my favorite perk of the season - new planners!

I'm the kind of person who if my planner isn't set, my life feels like one big mess. That being said of course, if you are any type A organization freak like me just any planner doesn't always do. I always need tons of room to write, love bright and bold colors, as well as nice, hard binding. So today I've put together a few of my favorites for you to shop
Now the biggest sin of buying a $50 agenda each year is NOT using it! That being said here are a few of my big tips for staying motivated (no matter what you're trying to accomplish)

(1) Write down your goals // I always define my goals in the form of SMART goals - specific, measurable, attainable, relative, time sensitive. Lets say I want to lose five pounds, I would then write "lose five pounds by July 31st by getting active and eating healthy". Physically writing it out in a place I will see it each day makes me feel more accountable, pushing me to further reach my goal.

(2) Live by a planner // Whether that be digital or physical having each day planned out and seeing that schedule each day holds you to a routine. This tip especially comes in handy when you schedule things months ahead of time. Anyone ever miss a dentist appointment because you simply forgot and never wrote it down? I've definitely be guilty of this one.

(3) Give yourself deadlines // This one doesn't apply so much to school for me as it does to my blog. If I see that I have a blog post scheduled for Monday which I want written by Sunday night, I'm much more likely to sit down a few days before and push that post out.

Do you have an agenda or any productivity tips that you swear by? Also, would you be interested in a post showing how I've been organize my agenda lately? Let me know - happy Monday!

Best,

  1. Yes, I have a Lilly agenda from this past year. I am thinking of switching over to Kate Spade though. I love using different pen colors for urgent, soon, and later events or things to do!

  2. I live & breathe by my planner! I'm trying out the Collegiate Day Book, and I'm already loving it! My Lilly just didn't give me what I wanted in terms of planning my day!

  3. I have had Lilly agendas for school for the past few years and love them!! I think though that for this Fall in addition to my Lilly I want to buy another agenda for my blog, so that I can separate blogging and school work!

    1. I've had two Lilly agendas now and love them, but this year I think I will be going with a new style! I love, love, love the style of the Lilly ones, but I'm always running out of room when it comes to school + blogging.

  5. I am so so addicted to my agenda. I check it more times than I can count every day and make lists and deadlines for everything. Sometimes I think I live life a little too regimented but that's how I like it!

  6. S.M.A.R.T goals and deadlines are so important! When I write my goals down, I commit them to mechanical memory. I like to make a small contract with myself too by signing my signature off at the bottom of my written goals! Unfortunately I don't use an agenda or planner -- I'm a proponent of organized chaos, but it definitely doesn't work for everybody haha

  7. With my planner, I color code my classes and put my social and personal stuff in hot pink. I'm using a ban.do planner for this upcoming year. Although I'm a little unsure about it because its hard-back and it doesnt have coils (so I can't fold back pages), I'm excited to start adding things to do and getting back into the organizing mode for school! Last year I just used a simple planner from Walmart.

  13. Great tips!
I am totally a planner addict and have one for work and one for everyday life/my blog.
I have the EC life planner and some random one from Target.
I might have to pick up the Ban.do one that you featured though because it would make the perfect blog planner I think.
