Product Empties

Time to talk beauty on the blog today. So truth is, there has been a shopping bag full of empty beauty products because I have been trying to get around to this post for literally a year. Pending the upcoming move, when packing up my teeny little apartment all those products were one of the first things that needed to go.

(There was seriously so many this will be a two-part post)

These are always some of my favorite videos to watch on YouTube because I feel like you don't really know a beauty product until you get through the entire bottle. I feel like I'm always going through spells where I really like a product at first, and then my opinion totally changes after the first month or two.

(Shop all products mentioned above)

Pantene Blowout Extend Dry Shampoo // I'm constantly flying through dry shampoo, and picked this up one day on a whim. I've used a lot of Pantene products in the past, and liked the packaging a lot. Worked okay, but definitely wouldn't repurchase.

Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Makeup Remover Wipes // Hands down, favorite makeup remover ever. This stuff works so well at taking off my waterproof mascara and doesn't break my skin out. It's usually on sale too so it's a great price point for my  budget.

Garnier Cleansing Oil // Now, this is marketed for dry skin but if you look at picking this up just ignore that label. I bought this when it originally came out and my skin was still super dry due to the Accutane, loved it then and completely love it now that my skin has returned to it's halfway oily feel. It's probably the best makeup remover I've ever used as far as getting every bit off of my face, but it's pretty messy to use. Would still definitely repurchase.

Clean and Clear Facial Cleansing Wipes // Can you tell I love testing new makeup removers? I picked this up while traveling a while back and really liked it! It was super gentle on my sensitive skin and did a decent enough job. Would probably repurchase.

Maybelline New York Clean Express Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover // Now I don't use this every day, but it's great when I have any mascara residue left or my wing-ed out eyeliner is a little too on point. It has a non-greasy formula and dries super quick.

Olay Moisturizing Formula for Sensitive Skin // This worked, but I don't think I even made it to the complete bottom of the bottle before switching to a new one. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation // Definitely my favorite drugstore foundation! I've repurchased this a few times now and don't plan on switching any time soon. It's a maximum coverage foundation so I don't look too oily at the end of the day, but feels super lightweight and is easy to apply. I wear the shade 840.

Julep Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat // I subscribe to their Maven box, and Julep is always a must have for me when it comes to trying new beauty products. I've gone through a few of these, and really love this base coat! It basically smooths out any ridging on your nails so your polish applies evenly.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion // Again, another absolutely must for me. Makes my eyeshadow last throughout the day without any sort of creasing. My only complaint is the size. I use so little of this product every day that I could never get through the full size before it expires. I've since then just started buying the travel size, which is only about $12.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes // I wanted to like these so bad but they always seem to sting my skin when I try using them! I know they are super popular so definitely let me know your opinion if you've used these before.

Out the Door Top Coat // I absolutely loved this stuff - it really does dry quick on your nails and left them looking hard and shiny. Would definitely repurchase!

Cetaphil Daily Cleanser Normal to Oily Skin // I started using this after it was recommended by my dermatologist and I really like it. It's essentially just a simple cleanser, but I've found the simpler I can  make my skin routine the clearer my skin tends to look. I've used both the sensitive skin type and the normal to oily type, and the lather of the normal to oily works twenty times better for me. Plus it's super affordable and easy to find.

Do you have any products you continuously swear by? Let me know - I'm always looking for good recommendations!
Best,

  1. I've been contemplating trying cleansing oils instead of my typical facewash. I have heard good things about garnier and simple brands. Thanks for the review!

    1. I haven't tried the simple one, but I know MAC also makes a great version (just a little bit of a higher price point). If you end up trying it out let me know your thoughts - I'm obsessed!

  4. This is an awesome break down. I tried the Pantene dry shampoo, and I didn't really care for it. But I use the Tresseme dry shampoo, and it has worked so much better for me! I am also always looking for a good makeup remover, so I like that you have tried out so many :)

    1. I'll have to try the Tresseme one next! Right now I'm using one by Dove and like it twenty times better than I thought I would. If you have any in depth questions about the different makeup removers I've tried let me know - I would love to run through them with you! There's contact links towards the top page of my blog :)

  5. I am currently waiting to have enough "empties" to make a post like this.
I am addicted to buying beauty products and a lot of my stuff ends up being half empty because I get into a new product so sometimes it takes me forever to finish things.
Love these types of posts though!
It's great when looking to buy new products.

  6. It's so true that it takes awhile to figure out if you really like a product or not. I love posts like these. Clearly if you used the whole bottle it was good stuff!

    1. Cetaphil is my absolute favorite!! I would absolutely recommend that one, or CeraVe makes a great option too! (Each under $15!) Definitely shoot me a message if you have any specific questions, that's my exact skin type.

  11. Loved this post! I've been curious about the Urban Decay primer for awhile so great tip about the travel size. I honestly need to do an updated Beauty Favorites post- I used to do them a lot a couple years ago on my blog but a lot of the products in my daily routine have changed!

    1. Yes, absolutely, hands-down favorite try it out! You literally use the tinniest amount that I don't know how anyone could get through the full size before it expired.

  12. My must have is Urban Decay's setting spray. I never used a setting spray before this one and it makes such a huge difference, especially on long days or nights. I don't usually use makeup removers because I wash & exfoliate my face each night, but I'll definitely have to try some of your recommendations!

  13. This is such a great idea! I rarely use a product long enough that I get to empty it, so when I do it means I love it! Thank you for sharing your tips and reviews of all these products, I definitely am keeping them in mind when I go new cosmetics shopping!

  16. Okay first of all, I am starting to lose faith that I will EVER find a dry shampoo that doesn't suck. If you have found said dry shampoo PLEASE let me know haha! Secondly, I love that foundation so much as well! I have used it for about two years now and is the only drugstore foundation that I actually like! I love these posts, they are very helpful! I can't wait for part 2!

    1. Have you tried the Baptiste one? It's my absolute favorite (As long as you don't use the color-ed versions) and the Dove one I'm using now is giving it a run for it's money! I use dry shampoo literally every day so I'm super picky about the brands I buy. Definitely try them and let me know your thoughts - fingers crossed you'll fall in love like I did!! :)
