An Open Letter to My Best Friend // Mother's Day

Dear Best Friend in the Whole Wide World,

I feel bad for people who don't have as good of a best friend as I do.

The best compliment I've ever received is that I look exactly like you. Which as you know happens frequently. Just about as frequently as our non-stop texting during the day ever since the day I went off to college. I don't think I could ever list every single thing I love/admire/appreciate about you. Seriously, that list goes on and on and on so I'll sum it up.

Reading each other's minds makes my life 100 times easier. We literally don't have to say a word to have a whole conversation.

You just automatically know when something is up. You always know exactly what I need to hear at that moment in time. It's like some weird mom-sense.

I so admire your open heart. You're seriously so much nicer than I think I ever could be. And some times that scares me, because I worry people take advantage of that way too often.

People always laugh at me when I say my favorite thing I inherited from you is your work ethic. (You know, besides your looks obviously) They just don't understand, workaholics run in our family.

One of my favorite things to do is spoil you. I know you hate it, but I love to blow some serious money on presents for you. Even just those $5 Cinnamon Dolce Lattes we love at Starbucks - extra hot of course.

Thank you for all of those terrible, terrible teenage years. For dealing with my craziness, letting me complain to you at the end of a long day, and for your care packages consisting solely of Trader Joe's Plantain chips and coffee (you know me so well).

I couldn't have asked for a better role model, partner in crime, shoulder to cry on, shopping buddy, voice of reason, and most importantly best friend. I love you mom.
