My Accutane Journey

Looking through these photos while writing this post is so surreal to me - if you had asked me a year ago if my skin would ever look this good I would have told you that you were crazy and that would never happen.

Please know before reading that this is going to be an extremely personal post of mine, but it's something I need to share. If you have been following my accutane journey for the past six months you know that I started getting acne at a really young age and it progressively got worse from there. If you've ever had bad acne you can understand just how much the state of your skin can affect your not only your self-confidence but your self worth.

I can tell you all about the crazy side effects and the best products to use when your lips start to crack, but bottom line is that this process was truly life changing for me. I'm not exaggerating either -my confidence has soared and the way I see myself is so different from just a short six months ago. Every time I see someone with severe acne I just want to tell them all about my experience and how much I wish I had done it years earlier. But most importantly, I want them to know that they are not alone in this.

Each photo was taken without makeup and without a filter-

Have you tried Accutane before? If y'all have any questions let me know!

Always, kTm

What's In My Bag

These always seem to be super popular post - and I've been wanting to do one of these for a while. Not going to lie, I can be a super nosey person and there's something about post like these that I just love! Plus, for my birthday I bought myself a new Kate Spade so I figured there couldn't be a more perfect time.

I am currently using Kate Spade Villabella Avenue Quinn Satchel I bought myself for my birthday a few weeks ago. The second I saw it I was in love, I mean do you see the bow on that thing?!? I've never seen something more me in my entire life. Its a very sturdy, well made bag. On the outside it seems very small and compact, but there is a ton of room on the inside and it's so organized. There's two major compartments, with a zipper compartment in the middle.

The first compartment I keep for the necessities -
  • Vera Bradley Wallet
  • Keys
  • Carmex
  • Hand Sanitizer

The second compartment holds all the little things I always end up needing -
  • Coozies
  • Victoria's Secret Cheetah Pouch
  • F21 Gold Pouch
  • Coozies
  • Victoria's Secret Dare to Bare Lip Butter
  • Mints
  • Headphones
  • Pepper Spray

In the middle pocket I keep any mail/flyers that are important at the time as well as a Kate Spade notebook and pen.

What do you keep in your bag? Let me know!

Booties of Fall

To celebrate the first day of fall today I went out and bought my very first pair of booties! I had never really been a fan of them but this season they have really been calling my name -

I ended up going with the middle left in black - and I'm obsessed with them! What are your favorites?

It's finally Friday! Has this been like the worst week ever for anyone else? It's been so busy/stressful/chaotic and I'm just happy its finally the weekend.

On top of school I've also been online shopping a bit too often, so I thought I would share some of my recent purchases with y'all in a Friday Five.

Lady In Red featuring eShakti

Back in August, I had the pleasure of working with eShakti for my first product review. I had heard of the site through other bloggers before, and was so excited when they reached out to me! If you are unfamiliar with eShakti they are a women's apparel company that specializes in making custom pieces made to your exact measurements, or from sizes 0 to 36W. They make tops, skirts, jackets, and their dresses are to die for!

I chose the Kennedy Dress (the name fits it perfectly, btw!) in red and have completely fallen in love with it. It fits me like a glove, and is super comfortable for every day.  My dress is unfortunately no longer available on their website, but their Marilyn dress is very similar.
eShakti Kennedy Dress (c/o) // Nine West Heels

The great thing about eShakti is not only are the garments made to your exact measurements, but you can customize anything on the dress - the neckline, sleeves, length, etc. Being 5'2 I find it really hard to find dresses that hit right above the knee - this way it always hits perfectly!

And the best part? The dress has pockets!

I highly, highly recommend looking the company - their summer dresses are currently 20% off and they just put out some great fall styles as well! I've especially got my eye on this cotton shift dress. You can visit their website here, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest page.

Definitely check them out and let me know what you think!

Always, kTm

For obvious reasons, today is always a very solemn day. The more I think about it, the more it hits me that my generation is the last one to remember that day. The fact that my little brother learned about it in his history textbook blows my mind.

That day we lost too many, that day we forever changed, and that day we came together as one nation.

Today I wanted to thank all the honorable men and women who came to the rescue when the towers fell. As the daughter of a police officer, I can't even imagine the pain their families went through and I want to thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Never Forget

Finding Your Favorite Brands For Cheap

It's no secret that I really like shopping. Like really, really like shopping. But being in college, even with my job you really have to watch your spending. Luckily, there are many resources out there for girls like me for all your shopping problems (within reason of course).

  1. Flash Sale Websites // sites like Rue La La (sign up using my link here)and Gilt can save you some serious money - RLL always has a lot of Lilly Pulitzer, and Gilt seems to always have Jack Rogers!
  2. Shop the sale rack // Self explanatory. A lot of stores seem to do their semi annuals at the same time, so make sure you are planning ahead and putting some money away.
  3. Poshmark // This site right here has quickly become my favorite- I've gotten a ton of stuff super cheap! Its kind of like shopping from someone's direct closet so you just have to be careful about wear and tear. I bought a Vineyard Vines tote just today for $30 (retails $95)!!
  4. Instagram Closets // A lot of bloggers especially have "closet" accounts on Instagram where you can buy (typically through paypal) items from your favorite bloggers.
  5. Thrift Stores // Keep an open mind with this one, and if you're planning a trip set aside at least an hour (all dependent on the size of the store). I have found so many fantastic items super cheap thrifting - it's one of my favorite past times. You're going to sort through a lot of junk, but the second you find those mint condition Ralph Lauren riding boots it will all be worth it.
What are some of your tips for finding great deals? Let me know!
