Tube Talk - Beauty Gurus

I, (like a lot of people I imagine) tend to spend way too much time on my computer. And I will be the first to admit it. Whether its working on my blog, doing some homework, I probably log at least 3-5 hours on the computer each day. I will start doing something for ten minutes, look up and its been two hours. This especially happens with my "black holes" aka Pinterest and YouTube.

Just like with blogging, I love fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. So naturally, I am obsessed with watching beauty gurus! Especially these girls -

(1) Sarahbelle93x - I swear, she reminds me so much of like the classic best friend. Total girl crush. She's gorgeous, HILARIOUS, and has a heart of gold! Her and glamorista16's relationship makes me so jealous - they're adorable!

(2) Missglamorazzi - She is so quirky, cute and adorable! Her videos are always amazing quality and super fun to watch. Plus - she has a minion obsession! :)

(3) MsBrittanyBrat - I think the reason why I like her so much is because we are so similar its crazy. Love, love, love her!

(4) Glamourkate08 - Now I don't typically like high school gurus (not that they'res anything wrong with them of course, I just can't identify as well anymore) but I love this girl. She seems very mature for her age and she has great style. Definitely wish I knew her back when I was in high school!

(5) Raychulllkins - I discovered her right before I started my accutane journey (read all about here and here) and she has a fantastic accutane series up. She literally posted once a week while taking the drug: talking about the side effects, progress, etc. It was very inspiring to watch going into it, and although she is now on her second round of accutane, she still has lots of great advice!

(6) MayBaby - If I had one word to describe this girl - PEPPY. And I love it, she's adorable!! She reminds me of a young missglamorazzi. (Also has the minion obsession too :) )

(7) Delphinexoxo101 - I just love her laid back style, yet she's still not afraid to be herself (aka the best kind of weird) in front of the camera!

(8) Glamourista16 - Although we have completely different style, I just love her personality. She also puts out a lot college advice videos that are just fabulous!

Do you have any favorite beauty gurus? Let me know!

The Best of Netflix

One of the best things about summer is that you can just be lazy. It's too hot outside, and the AC is almost too cold inside so if you're me at least, you spend your days sitting around in leggings and a sweatshirt. Last summer I re-watched the every episode of Gossip Girl and The Hills and it was AH-MAZING, like living my teen years all over again. But when the school year finally rolled back around, I got so busy I barely had time to paint my nails once a week.  Over Memorial Day weekend my cousins and I started watching Scandal - and the Netflix obsession came back.

These four are my all time favorites-

If you watch any of these definitely let me know what you think!
(PS I'm halfway done with Scandal - any recommendations for my next show?)

Why You Should Be Drinking More Water

Happy hump day! This week in NC has been upper 90s... no joke it is HOT outside! Yesterday I went for a 30 minute walk (without any SPF on - bad idea) and ended up getting heat blisters all across my arms and chest.

Accutane is no joke y'all. (You can read about my month one and two here and here)

Remember when you were a kid and your mother always told you to drink water when you were outside on hot summer days? (My mom always forced us to down  bottle the second we walked back inside) Drinking a healthy amount of water is always important, but during the summertime (and on Accutane of course) you have to be especially cautious because its so easy to get dehydrated.

But there is so many benefits to drinking water in general - my first step towards getting into a healthier lifestyle all started when I gave up Diet Coke (my drug of choice) and drinking more water and green tea. Those first few weeks after swearing off of Diet Coke were rough, but after that my body just felt so much better without the so many toxins. (Sorry to disappoint but Diet Coke is literally a can of chemicals y'all... and I'm pretty sure its what kept my acne so bad for so many years.)

As a general rule, I've been told you should always try and drink about 6-8 cups of water a day. I think this goes for 12oz glasses, but I am a big fan of using my Camelbak water bottle (I literally have had it since my sophomore year of high school and its still going strong!) and I find that drinking water is so much easier when you have something cute to drink from. These two tumblers from Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade are adorable!!

A good way to keep track of exactly how much water you are drinking are Apps. You always have your phone on you anyways right? Make sure to always bring along a drink! I am a big fan of the apps Waterlogged and iDrated - its an easy and fun way to keep track of your hydration patterns.

One of my first complaints when I first switched over to drinking more water than anything is that water doesn't really have a taste... I tried putting fruits in it, but I was never a big fan of any combinations I came up with. My water HAS to be ice cold or else I won't drink it- is that weird?

Do you do anything fun to spice up your water? Know of any good apps? Let me know!

Summertime Pool Day Essentials

Now that it is officially summertime, when I'm not at work or school my favorite thing to do be outside. Unfortunately, I don't get to the beach often enough but there is a pool in my apartment complex that I can just walk to if I have a few hours free that day to tan and relax.

1.) Sunscreen // Always, always, always put on some sort of SPF whenever you are going into the sun! In the past (pre-acctuane), I loved using the Australian Gold SPF 15 tanning oil to get my tan on. However, a side effect of the accutane is sun sensitivity, so this year I have been alternating between the Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF 30 and Banana Boat Sport SPF 50.

2.) Pool Towel // Sounds obvious but I have forgotten this so many times. This one has little lobsters on it! TJ Maxx is the best place for good quality, yet inexpensive pool towels.

3.) A Good Read // I am currently working on The Wolf of Wall Street, but love flipping through magazines (especially Cosmo & InStyle)

4.) Nike Golf Hat // This one is sea foam green and what I love the most about it is how light weight it is. I always make sure to have my face protected - its always the first thing to burn.

5.) Snack // I tend to get the muchies whenever I am out in the sun for an extended period of time, and these veggie chips (by Eat Your Vegetables) are super yummy!

Incase you were wondering my pool bag is actually the Lilly Pulitzer insulated cooler (in the print Booze Cruise) but this thing is amazing for the pool, so sturdy and you don't have to worry about it getting wet.

What are your essentials for a day at the pool? Let me know!

Friday Five

Finally, its Friday!  Although it has been a super busy yet great week for me, today has just been one of those days. First I overslept, a lot. Then on my way to class this morning I stepped into a big pile of mud (in my Jacks may I add). And I just have so much to do before going into work tonight. So keep your fingers crossed for me.

1.) Kate Spade New Bond Street Satchel // If you follow me on Twitter you probably saw all my tweets waiting for this to arrive last week, and when it finally came I was over the moon. It is a few years old and preowned (#brokecollegestudent) but I'm pretty sure its the most beautiful thing I own!

2.) iPhone 5s // I finally upgraded over the weekend from my iPhone 4s to the 5s! Not that there was anything really wrong with the iPhone 4s, but iOS7 wasn't designed to run on a 4s so my apps crashed halfway often and the camera is just so much better on the 5s.

3.) Victoria's Secret PINK Date Bra // Incase you didn't know the Semi Annual is going on right now at Victoria's Secret, which to me is always like Christmas! I picked up the new-ish Date bra though (the racerback version) and it has quickly become one of my favorite bras. I can't even describe how great it makes you look, the cut is so flattering!

4.) "I Don't Dance" by Lee Brice // The video has footage from his actual wedding. Brb swooning.

5.) Carmex // My boss recommended this to me for my super chapped lips and it is ah-mazing. So much better than the EOS balls or just normal chapstick.

Are you loving anything in particular this week? Let me know!

Venus Snap Razor Review

Happy hump day! A few weeks ago, Influenster sent one of the new Venus Snap Razors (see Venus's whole line here) to review and  let me tell you, it has been the perfect thing for weekends away! Memorial day weekend I was at the lake, then last weekend at the beach it was the perfect thing to have tucked away with me.

When I received it, it was such a happy mail day! (The mail lady was even jealous, she wanted one too) I had been seeing the advertisements for them for a while and to me they looked so fascinating. I couldn't figure out the little handle- originally I was thinking it would be next to impossible to use, it looks like theres next to nothing to hold onto!

For the longest time I was a huge fan of the BIC soleil disposable razors because that was all my mother ever used and they worked well for me. About a month or two ago I decided to give another razor a shot and tried my first Venus razor, the one for sensitive skin of course (thank you accutane). I ended up loving it! It sounds silly, but it almost feels like I finally upgraded to a "big girl" razor. (Does anyone else ever feel this way? I'm probably just crazy

It's actually A LOT easier to use than you would think. The actual razor part has the typical five blades, and the lotion/soap/whatever that is rim is the same as a normal Venus razor. The handle is where it really gets interesting. Its made of some sort of rubber almost, that you can press into (with grips!) to get a tight hold on your razor while using it. And the cherry on top? It comes in a really sturdy case that has tiny holes in the bottom so your razor can drain out (meaning no mold & mildew!)

Now although I LOVED this for travel, I would not probably not use it as an everyday razor. If you are going somewhere this summer I definitely recommend you pick one up! (Trust me, you won't realize you need it until you don't have it.) #InASnap

What is your favorite razor to use? Let me know!

*I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. Thank you again Influenster! If you would like an invite to Influenster let me know in the comments below.

Summer Goals

I can't believe its already JUNE! Where did May go? Between finishing up exams, going home for a week, starting my new job (eek!), summer school starting, and Memorial day I can't even tell you what day it is anymore. Now that I'm on an actual schedule it's time to set my goals for this summer:

  1. Put away $300 // Every summer I try to put away as much money as possible, and then end up spending it all, well somewhere. This summer I want to put away at least $300 and just leave it there- everyone needs a nice little rainy day fund.
  2. Finish an afghan // This makes me sound so old doesn't it? I'm only 19 I promise... When I was little, my mother taught me how to crochet and I love to sit around the house all day and do it! My attention span however isn't so great. I have always started afghans and never been able to complete one, so fingers crossed! I am currently working on a baby afghan for a little baby cousin due in about a month.
  3. Get active // This is probably my biggest goal. During the school year, going to yoga class (yes class with academic credit!) was amazing, I was genuinely excited to go everyday! And then it ended and without some sort of routine my motivation for making time to exercise just went down the toilet. I know I am definitely not a runner, so the plan is to get back into yoga and/or the gym.
  4. Do something daring // I already have a plan - but more on that later!
  5. Paint my corn hole boards // Last August, for my birthday my father made me a corn hole set but left it unfinished for me to put whatever I wanted on them... Its now June and I still haven't painted them (whoops)! This summer I want them completely done just in time for tailgating season!

Do y'all have any big (or small) summer time goals? Let me know!
