Friday Five 1/31/2014

Third week of spring semester is done! Heres five things I've been loving this past week:

1.) Frozen- If you haven't seen this yet, go see it. I've heard it being called "Disney's most progressive movie" and I absolutely agree. Even the soundtrack is amazing. I can't stop singing "Do you want to build a snowman?" and "Let it go". Its unlike any other movie I've ever seen and its just fantastic!

2.) America- Literally I am so excited for the Olympics coming up! Any chance I get to show of my red, white, and blue I am a happy girl. USA! USA! USA!

3.) Vintage L.L. Bean Field Coat- I thrifted one of these recently and to say I'm obsessed would be an overstatement. Its so warm and cozy and the perfect winter coat. You can find a similar one here and here.

4.) Diamond Candles- These are just so neat! I've seen them on Pinterest multiple times; basically each candle (priced at about $25) has a ring somewhere inside of it priced anywhere from $10 to $5,000. No joke. I just think they're so neat! And to top it off they're based out of North Carolina! (Right now they're even giving $10 off!)

5.) Thin Mints- Girl Scout Season!!! As a former girl scout, I can't pass a table and not buy a box of cookies. I literally will hoard them and then hide them all so I find them throughout the year. I'm obsessed!

I hope y'all had a great week! Let me know what you've been loving!

Cold Weather Essentials

There's ice and snow everywhere! The whole east coast seems to be frozen over, so I've compiled a list of my snow day / cold cold weather must haves:

1.) Bean Boots- I seriously cannot get enough of these! I got a pair at Christmas and they are so warm and comfortable. I have the tan and navy pair. Practical yet perfect, I can't believe I didn't get them earlier! And they're on sale right now!! (I have to warn you though they are on backorder pretty often…)

2.) Hot Chocolate- As much as I try to stick to a healthy diet, on super cold days when I can't feel my fingers this is my go-to guilty pleasure. I love coming home from class and making a cup to warm me up!

3.) L.L. Bean Fleece Pullover- I thrifted one a few months ago, and on super cold days its all I ever wear! Its so cozy and great for throwing on to run to class. Plus I love the forest green color!

4.) Pashmina Scarves- I can't even count how many pashmina scarves I have collected over the years. You can typically pick them up from department stores for about $10 to $15 dollars a piece. They tend to feel lightweight but are super warm which I love! They also come in an assortment of colors.

5.) Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Lip Balm- Glides on smoothly and last! My lips tend to get extremely chapped in the wintertime and applying this tends to help a lot on extra windy days. I have it in the clear color (Too Cool) but it also comes in a few reds and pinks if you prefer a tinted balm.

Let me know what y'all think, stay warm out there!

Clarisonic Mia 2

Since I was about 10 years old, I have struggled with my skin. For as long as I can remember I have had really oily, acne-prone skin. My nose is covered in blackheads, my cheeks covered in old scars. Everything else is just bad.

Early on I learned the importance of a good skin care routine, but recently I've been feeling like something was missing. This is where the Clarisonic Mia 2 comes in. I've heard about this for years, and apparently its amazing. Does anyone have one and can attest to it?

For anyone who doesn't know, the Clarisonic Mia 2 is a facial cleansing brush, known to clean your face six times better than your hands alone. The Mia 2 has two speeds, is a smaller version of the original Mia (so its easier to hold in your hand), and has a T-timer that turns off automatically once the cycle is done.

I bought it in the Emerald color (its actually much darker in person), as shown above, and haven't really seen much of a difference in the three days so far I've been using it. I've heard stories about a "purging phase" you go through for about two weeks to a month once you start using the Clarisionic and I seem to be going through that right now. If anyone has one please let me know, I'd love to hear about your experience with it. I will keep you all updated though!

The Best Is Yet To Come - 2014

I have never been one for specific resolutions because I tend to break them before Valentine's Day. So no, I will not be limiting myself to one diet coke a day, but I will try to drink more water.

This year, I will eat better.
This year, I will read more books.
This year, I will push myself academically.
This year, I will try to see the best in others.
This year, I will decrease the clutter in my life.
This year, I will enjoy today.

Happy new year everyone!
